We understand it can be daunting to embark on a new project that involves change and it helps to know you’re not alone. “Just over 9 weeks ago I popped my head into Body Conditioning PT Studio based in West Harting, and found Phil pumping away on the bike…

“… wearing a weight jacket for added measure and looking rather sweaty. He immediately jumped off the bike with a big, welcoming smile and introduced himself. I then proceeded to twitter on about my previous athletic prowess (we're talking ten plus years ago), the body I'd had, the body I wanted and how I couldn't possibly have one-to-one personal training because I'd feel a bit silly and would much prefer exercising in a group. We had a brief conversation; I left my details and went home. Later that day I got text from Phil, gently asking if I wanted to send through my availability; I finally replied two days later following a major struggle with my inner chimp. It went something like this:
Why oh why did you pop in? Now look at the situation you're in. You're going to have to reply but what should you say?
No, you definitely can't do this, you’re not fit enough to go to the gym
Of course you can do it and you've got to start somewhere
You don't need a personal trainer, just eat a bit less and a bit better, and go for a run
OK, you've no clue what you're doing and he's the expert so you should go
What about the cost? Well, you happily spend money on things like plants, clothes, going out!
Just go once, see what you think, see how you feel ...
I replied to Phil's text and the following week I had my first PT session. I'm now nine sessions in, plus going to group PT twice a week, and I do NOT feel silly in any way. Phil is incredible; he has gently encouraged me, been supportive and patient, and the hour's training passes in no time at all because if nothing else, he is good company. I now look forward to seeing Phil three times a week and the rest of the crew at Body Conditioning, but also the other gym-goers because everyone is so friendly. I feel amazing and am getting fitter by the week, but the most incredible thing is that my headspace is so much healthier than it was before. I feel positive and much happier in my skin, I'm sleeping better, eating better, laughing more, and my focus and drive for life has returned.
My time with Phil is worth every penny and this is the best investment I have made in myself in a very long time. Thank you, Phil!”
