Meet the Trainers
Barry Carter (Head Trainer)
I am a highly experienced fitness professional with over 20 years in the industry. I have a BSc in sports science and an MSc in human movement, which have helped me to work with thousands of different clients and help them achieve their fitness goals. My dream was to create a training facility that people would love to come and train in, and I have been able to make that dream a reality through my passion for health, fitness, and sport.
Throughout my career, I have always been dedicated to learning, applying and developing my skills, which has helped me to work effectively with my clients. As the field of health and fitness has evolved, so has my knowledge, and I am always looking for new ways to improve my skills and help my clients to achieve their goals.
Having two young children has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges of balancing work, family and health. This has helped me to provide more empathy and support to my clients who are facing similar challenges.
I have trained a wide range of clients, including elite athletes, actors and corporate clients, and have worked with people of all ages between 14 and 84. My approach is that fitness should be a part of your lifestyle, whether that's walking, going to the gym, or playing sports. I believe that fitness is not a quick fix, but a lifestyle, and the benefits that I have seen my clients achieve over the years make me even more passionate about my work.
My commitment to fitness and wellness is exemplified by my ability to compete at a high level in sport, even at the age of 40. I have recently achieved victory in the Hampshire's fittest pairs and Steep doubles tennis competition, showcasing my dedication to maintaining a high level of physical fitness.
Scott James
As a lifelong enthusiast of fitness and sports, I have personally experienced the transformative power of leading a healthy lifestyle. Growing up, I struggled with being overweight and lacked the knowledge and motivation to make positive changes. However, after embarking on a journey of self-improvement and losing 10 stone, I discovered my inner athlete and became deeply passionate about all aspects of health and fitness. I went on to earn a BSc (Hons) in Sport & Exercise Science, which has equipped me with both academic knowledge and personal experience to help educate others.
I am deeply committed to promoting health and well-being in all aspects of my life, both professionally and personally. In my spare time, I enjoy playing football, tennis, and taking my dog for walks to country pubs for a refreshing pint. My family and friends have played a significant role in keeping me motivated, especially during the challenges I faced after undergoing three major knee surgeries over a five-year period. Despite these setbacks, I maintained a strong belief that "a setback is a step up for a comeback," and through patience, dedication, and effective rehabilitation, I was able to recover and achieve my fitness goals. This dedication even led to me becoming one half of Hampshire's fittest pair in 2022.
As a coach, I understand that every client is unique and tailor my programming to meet their specific needs and goals, whether it be fat loss, strength training, rehabilitation, or sports performance. I take the time to understand what is important to each individual and stay up to date with the latest science-based evidence to provide the tools for my clients to achieve their own life-changing results. I am passionate about using my own life experiences to educate and support others on their journey to improved health and well-being.

With over 12 years of experience in the fitness industry, I have helped a diverse range of clients achieve their weight and fat loss goals and improve their overall mindset towards health and wellness.
I specialize in behavior change coaching, which helps my clients not only achieve their desired results, but also maintain them in the long term.
My passion for fitness began when I transitioned from a kitchen fitter to a gym instructor and saw the positive impact that being fit and healthy had on others. In 2015, I underwent two hip replacements, which further strengthened my appreciation for health and fitness and fueled my desire to help my clients not only improve their bodies, but also live their lives to the fullest.
As a personal trainer, I am passionate about helping my clients gain confidence and belief in themselves, and empowering them to pursue their goals. I believe in providing my clients with the necessary tools and support to maintain their results long term.
In my own life, health and fitness has given me the freedom and confidence to pursue my passions and go on adventures such as hiking in Finland, Sicily, Morocco, and Romania. I am excited to help you discover the possibilities that a healthy and fit lifestyle can bring.

As a certified personal trainer with over a decade of experience, I have a wealth of knowledge in the health and fitness industry. After spending 14 years in the recruitment industry I decided to change my career path and pursue my passion in health and fitness when I had my first child George.
Being a mother to my two boys has given me a unique understanding and empathy for the challenges that come with balancing a busy life and staying fit. I work with many women to provide them with the skills and support they need to achieve their goals.
I am committed to helping individuals achieve their fitness goals and providing them with the necessary tools and guidance to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. My expertise in pre and post-natal exercise allows me to support and empower mothers who are balancing motherhood with work and staying fit.
As a personal trainer, I understand the importance of regular exercise in maintaining both physical and mental well-being. I personally enjoy a variety of activities such as lifting weights, walking, and the odd run and I believe that incorporating a balance of different forms of exercise, such as gym work and home workouts, is essential for achieving optimal health and fitness. I am dedicated to helping my clients overcome the challenges that come with balancing parenting and working while staying fit and healthy.
